Each illustration was accompanied by an interesting fact about the animal, so the event also had an educational dimension. Information shocked not only the children but also the adults. Workshops, The Park Hill Kindergarten, Gdańsk, Poland

Group of preschoolers thanks to workshops got to know the inhabitants of the Baltic Sea. Despite earlier beliefs, they learned that in the Baltic Sea don’t live stingrays, sharks and piranhas. Young marine explorers chose one of the five animals and did it’s own interpretation. The most popular turned out to be straight-nose pipefish. Small masterpieces were very colorful, because children thanks to their imagination created each animal in the unique way. At the end kids all together created the beautiful Baltic Sea full of straight-nose pipefishes, moon jellies, lagoon cockles, lumpsuckers and mallards.

Workshops, Gdynia Design Days, Poland

The young workshop participants learned that our sea is full of interesting creatures. There are organisms well adapted, sometimes with funny sounding names. Boards in the form of prints and illustrated presentation depicted images of the animals and photos. Pictures launched the imagination of children. The task of the young artists-biologists was to make their own interpretation of chosen by them marine animals. Indication of the animal, which the child is going to draw, was a form of the adoption. Children created the story of its protégé, gave him a name, defined favourite "hobbies", friends and habits. Descriptions were related to the real characteristics of animals. Children are sensitive observers and very often more appreciate nature than adults. The future and condition of the Baltic Sea lies in the hands of the child, so it is worth to familiarize the child with the subject from an early age.
